and then Sandy came

It.rained.  It.flooded. it.blew.  it.closed.roads. #that was annoying# what should take 3 min...took 20 min with all the detouring! Monday we still had electric so I suggested having the family over. I was BORED of home and work was closed! The positive side of the storm...I slept and slept! simply.amazing. While skyping in the evening..the electric went!  Nick...cute as always and not saying much! These...well they are double cousins. I've heard those actions come from the #other# side!  School day #2 was cancelled. I had no electric. I had a dead cell phone. I was with nothing to do. I don't function well under these circumstances these days! Maybe I don't function well either way? (it's anyone's guess) more family time! PUFF PAINT! it was a hit! even Myles Mary Kate and Anna displaying their work of art and.."baby Owen"..lol..not so much anymore! Sandy took with her many of th...

Welcome Saturday!

The week looked long. Big house.Empty house. Two trees. Many leaves. I promised I would take care of the looming mounds of leaves that blanketed the front lawn. Like usual I procrastinated. When decided to do it..the yard was wet and I was warned repeatedly that IF I mow...not to clog the bagger and burn something...thus the wetness would only enhance such possibilities. Little did I know that this front yard would take me over two hours to mow..NO LIE!  It has three bags. I had to empty every round..if I made it that far! the beautiful array of leaves after unclogging it for the millionth time. It clogged but I unclogged it before damage was done. I've learned: I wouldn't survive living alone I forgot what it is like to have to do my own laundry I don't want a big house I am working more than I am not. I maybe should sleep in my car. On average this week I was home and awake maybe 4 hours a day if that!  The yard still isn't finished. I d...

this too is meaningless

The busy life continues. I worked for 16 hours today. Two jobs. Promptly jogged my 5 miles to take in this beauty. On a side note..I have come to realize jogging goes just as fast listening to sermons as to pounding music.(it also drains the cell battery.dead.) I've now been awake 48+ hours. (It's best left uncalculated.)  I hope I die before sleep deprivation catches up to me. I should be sleeping. It is night after all. hmmm. sigh. It's what it does to a person. Tonight is the first "working" night I had off. #it's.amazing.# Tomorrow I am cleaning a house ALL morning. I'm back to work then. Last week Thursday I worked almost 15 hours. I pray it's not that long again!  We grow up driven to work.work.work. for what? What does it profit a man if he gain the WHOLE world but lose his own soul? It is hard to keepthis balance in perspective as I work my days away here and my nights away there! Is there a reason Ecclesiastes says "yet when I surveyed...

Fireplace warmth

I'm still struggling to adjust here. These cold temperatures aren't helping matters. I mean seriously 32 degrees in Oct? Oh how long, how long? this fire is roaring right near my bedroom. No more 70's in my bedroom from that little heater! park time with family Owen and Myles..yet another pix they wanted to take :) He will smile every time! Yeah pix don't lie...it is really that time of year! hmmm..... to survive or not survive...winter will tell! (..tell me to stop complaining..I know..but honestly I.HATE.IT. ) On other note...I am surviving the night job. It's a job for the time. I have a new appreciation for not liking donuts. I do not see weight gain as an issue. In fact quite the opposite!

hi-ho-hi-ho...off to work I go

Life is changing. I am excited to be working but the hours are going to be a stretch. Tell me I don't like to sleep-I know that. That is why I am working nights but that doesn't mean I don't like to do other things in the night :) There is a season for everything and all will be well........  or so I tell myself. Nights of babysitting may be fewer but I squeezed one more in. I love my nieces and nephews!..they love my camera. lol! Myles and Owen...Owen must copy everything Myles does. It is mandatory I believe! MaryKate and Anna...still in uniform. two things I learned from them: * I am taking loooong to get married so Myles could be a daddy before me (ok not that I will be a daddy...but you get the picture) * After I am married (I guess there may be hope after all) I should wait a year at least to have kids They really teach them young these days! lol. He is quite the big ham I laugh every time.. never to be outdone newspaper EVER...

*lancaster*

It was a beautiful night with nothing planned. I live in Lancaster...I hardly ever go to Lancaster city. there was beauty all around streets with people since it was "First Friday" some more insistent on attention than others! POLITICS!!                                                      We attempted to take some senior pictures   She is beautiful inside and out. God has great plans for her life! Once a student I had in school, ten years means nothing at all!  ended with a nice fall coffee drink!

Believe

I have time on my hands...so shrimp kabobs it was! The grill of course gave issues. Maybe it was my lack of experience using it. Whatever the case they turned out just fine! Babysat this lil dearie today. We waged the raindrops to swing a little as you can see! I am ready to see some sunshine again! The plus part of it is that it isn't so cold :) She played the whole time. I overheard her saying " I love the Phillies so much. They are the best." Hmmm....someone is definitely indoctrinating that one! Upon asking her who the Phillies are or what they play, she had no reply. Jesus tells us to become as little children...Guess we don't have to understand to believe. *if only I could see it that way.*

mountaintops

In my attempts to adjust I am trying to find beauty in everything. One thing that I really do love about fall is the amazing sunsets. I would have been so ok if this would have been HIS return! This is what I spent the day doing ...along with sewing two dresses. If I can't be in Africa then that sewing machine is gunna be moving! hershey kisses (mom wanted used) surrounded by chocolate chip cookie dough.  A pinterest idea...why not try it!   Challenge for the day: "The mountaintop is not meant to teach us anything, it is meant to make us something! Character. There is a terrible trap in asking 'what's the use of this experience?' We can never measure spiritual matters that way. The moments on the mountaintop are rare moments and they are meant for something in God's purpose." Oswald Chambers now if only...yes only I could practice this to the fullest!
